Stopped on the As114 for the inevitable photo opportunity |
A few small mountains either side of this well surfaced and
wide section. |
With a sheer drop to one side |
And some open aspect bends |
A rare occasion - there weren't that many cars to overtake. |
Ahh.... this shot. Why am I riding on a dirt track?
Well the road-works were there again at N43.32396 W4.67864 and the road
appeared to be blocked. Fortunately we met an ex-pat who said
"Don't worry, I know a detour." (A bit like when your
spouse says "I know a short-cut."). Consequently, I, yet
again, proved the off-road capabilities of the ST. Susie was having
problems and she had four wheels! |
This detour had some U-bends (they couldn't be described as
hairpins as that implies they were rideable). I think I lost a
couple of stone on this 9 mile endurance course. |
Tim took this shot back down the way we had come. Any
glare is from the white of his knuckles as he was holding on. |
Back to sanity and the N621 heading South. |
A good vantage point to wait for Susie to catch up.
The PMR radio was useless in these canyons. |
The two mid-life crises parked side by side. |
When you see a local Ferrari parked by a restaurant it has
the same implication as trucks parked by a restaurant. The
restaurant is likely to be good. [At 13:16:53 (UTC+2) Elevation 262 ft

And then heading East on the C6314. |
Looking back to the West. |
Good job I'm thin! |
Breath in again. For those who might think this is a
foolhardy motorcyclist overtaking 'blind' - a few seconds before I
commenced this manoeuvre I had a perfect view for about 300yds up the
road down the right hand side of the truck. |
Now I know where the truck was going. Someone had
dug a chunk out of the road. This was not going to be easy.
The surface was just loose rocks and mud. |
An automatic change of tyres at this point would have been
useful - from road to off-road as in the film "Mission Impossible
II" (for those of you who spotted that little mistake) |
Other hazards included concentrating on the view |
when you are approaching a corner. |
Especially one like this. |
But you can always stop and look back and think "Did I
really ride that?" |
