Icom IC-F22SR PMR 446 Transceiver with Autocom

I was not desperately impressed with the solution Autocom supply for providing power to the Icom via the Autocom unit as it a) precludes easy exchange for a battery pack and b) left the back of the unit exposed.  I therefore cobbled together this solution.

ps1.jpg (76134 bytes) Using the (optional) BP-208 alkaline battery case I performed the modifications shown in the picture opposite.
ps2.jpg (36405 bytes) BP-208 with back closed.
ps3.jpg (34318 bytes) Appearance of unit with BP-208 in place and plugs inserted.

It is worth noting that the Icom will, out of the box, supposedly communicate with the Kenwood TX-3101 on channels 1 and 3 as supplied by Autocom.  However, I did not find this when I tried it with a friend's Kenwood.

You should also note that the CTCSS channel numbers given in the Icom manual do not correspond with the EIA/TIA standard.  There is a difference of 2.  Icom CTCSS 10 equals EIA/TIA CTCSS 8.

This PDF shows the channel numbers, frequencies, tones for both the Icom and Kenwood.
