Get a Polco 12 volt cigarette lighter adaptor with battery clips (part no 359.01) from your local automotive parts shop (Halfords maybe). Cut off battery clips. Place the adaptor on the right side of  the battery where it will sit quite nicely.  High resolution picture is here (big file).

Crimp a terminal connector to the negative wire and attach it to the battery negative terminal (you can shorten this wire considerably). Use a Scotchlock connector to the rear light positive feed for the positive wire (this way the supply is only live when you have the lights on - which you do all the time you are riding anyway, don't you).

Plug the lighter adapter for the GPS into this socket and tape the two together. Take off the left fairing and feed the wire under the left side of the tank and use ties where appropriate and the existing wiring clips already present. Take it up the steering tube on the front of the frame and follow the clutch cable to the left grip. The last plastic tie should be on the steering tube.

Use an elastic band (allows some free play) as the last tie on the base of the ball which holds the ram mount (see the previous page for fitting instructions for this). This should then give you exactly enough left to connect to the GPS. Replace left fairing ... et voila.
